Universal Instruments Increases Market Share; Captures over a Third of the Americas Market

In the midst of a challenging market, Universal Instruments is enjoying success, seeing increased market share worldwide. Universal has grown its customer base by over 70 customers in the past 12 months through its unique strength for building moderate-mix, moderate-to-high complexity products. In the Americas, this represents a recent market share of more than 33%.

March 30, 2009 - “Our recent success in the Americas and Worldwide is due to our best-in-performance SM, IM, and Automation platforms, the flexibility and adaptability of our equipment, and our focus on providing solutions to our customers’ challenges,” says Mark Ragard, Universal GM, Americas. “We’re happy to be enjoying this level of growth and acceptance in our markets. Universal’s value proposition is exceptional in today’s environment where production flexibility is the prerequisite," continues Ragard. “We’re also extremely encouraged that our early numbers indicate that this success is on track to continue or improve during the rest of this year.”

Unmatched flexibility sets Universal solutions apart, enabling them to flourish with the wide-ranging requirements and varied product mix in the market today. “Our Genesis and AdVantisX Platforms are truly the most versatile solutions on the market,” states Scott Gerhart, Universal GM SM Platforms. “They deliver high performance for any requirement, from NPI through high-volume production, easily and efficiently migrating from product to product”.

In addition to flexibility, longevity is imperative. Today, Universal Instruments’ assembly equipment utilizes the same platform philosophy that the company pioneered, delivering obsolescence protection with the ability to easily upgrade and retrofit past systems to today’s capabilities, keeping them efficient longer. Universal also provides solution integration expertise across Surface Mount, Insertion Machine, and Automation platforms along with exceptional service and manufacturing process expertise. This unique solution-based business model provides a strong basis for continued worldwide growth.
